PASMA Tower Week Yorkshire

PASMA Tower Week Yorkshire

The association recently completed its first ever PASMA Tower Week in collaboration with its local members - manufacturers, hirer/dealers and training centres. The concept was to put towers in the spotlight.

The pilot campaign, which was held in Yorkshire, ran from 11 until 15 June 2012. Taking as its theme ‘Promoting good practice with towers’ the objectives were:

To promote the safe and proper use of towers in the workplace;

To demonstrate the all-round versatility of towers;

To provide a snapshot of tower use on a practical, day-to-day basis;

To promote tower training and competency.

To raise awareness and understanding of the role of PASMA in developing UK and European standards and tower guidance.

The campaign was launched at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Monday 11 June and included presentations from the Health & Safety Executive, the Electrical Contractors Association and The Manufacturer’s Organisation, as well as a first look at the much anticipated mobile App being developed by PASMA.

This was followed by a week of activities from members including, Through the Trap (3T) and Advance Guardrail (AGR) tower demonstrations, free seminars on the safe use of mobile access towers, free on-site inspections and surveys, ask the expert sessions, free drop-in surgeries, training courses and even competitions with the chance to win free PASMA courses.
