PASMA Tower Week returns with digital events
On November 11th-15th, PASMA Tower Week will be held nationally for the first time. Supported by Working Well Together, the HSE-sponsored national safety campaign, the week’s focus will be on showing the benefits of mobile access towers – for safety, savings, and unusual jobs – around the country.
Industry body PASMA plans to promote not only safety and best practice, but also the benefits of these aluminium towers in a growing number of different applications. The week will also provide a snapshot of current tower use to inform future safety campaigns and projects.
Organised nationally - but delivered locally by its member organisations - PASMA Tower Week will see PASMA manufacturers, hire/assembly companies and tower training centres giving demonstrations, running workshops and surgeries, offering on-site health checks and arranging ‘ask the expert’ sessions.
A dedicated website will be the focus and resource hub for PASMA Tower Week. It will host a range of resources, including a diary of events and activities planned by PASMA members. Visitors to the website will also have access to a range of guidance and advice, including a free Tower Fact Pack, offering information about PASMA, mobile access towers, and Tower Week itself.
PASMA’s contribution will be a series of online digital events during the week, with local physical events held by members around the country. A series of online seminars throughout the week will touch on both general tower use and major current issues.
These seminars will go hand in hand with ‘ask the expert’ sessions, allowing anyone to ask questions of the speakers, who will consist of representatives from various safety organisations as well as PASMA itself.
Complete with its own logo and collateral, PASMA Tower Week is intended for any company or individual using towers on an occasional, frequent or daily basis. It will, says PASMA, have something for everyone, from managers and supervisors overseeing the use of towers, to those assembling and using towers on a day-to-day basis, including the self-employed.
PASMA’s managing director, Peter Bennett, said: “Towers are a familiar part of the workplace landscape. They enjoy a proven track record for safety and productivity and are the natural and logical choice for a great many access tasks.
"PASMA Tower Week will turn the spotlight on this versatile piece of access equipment and give it the prominence and attention it rightly deserves. It will showcase the latest developments in tower design, assembly techniques and safe practice, and highlight why towers are increasingly chosen in preference to other forms of temporary access."
