SELECT and PASMA agree to partnership
Lead mobile access tower trade association PASMA has entered into a new partnership agreement with Scotland's electrical trade association SELECT, in order to help make tower training more accessible to SELECT’s members.
Delegates who take training through this partnership will receive a joint-badged PASMA card with the SELECT logo as a sign of their competence to work at height. With falls from height the leading cause of death in the workplace, it is a legal requirement for workers to prove their competence before carrying out this type of work.
PASMA’s Managing Director, Peter Bennett, said: “Electrical contractors of course regularly work at height. We are delighted that this agreement will benefit both organisations by giving SELECT’s contractors an easy route to training and allowing PASMA members to get more involved in an industry that will benefit from their expertise.”
With some 1,200 member companies covering the whole of Scotland – from the borders to the islands – SELECT represents everything from the largest contracting companies to one-man operations. Influencing legislation as the voice of the electrotechnical industry, and speaking for around 80% of electrical contractors in Scotland, the association also has connections to the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA), its sister organisation in England.
PASMA has members around the UK and beyond, recently expanding into Dubai and South Africa, who manufacture and supply towers as well as providing the industry standard training course. Working closely with regulatory authorities including the Health & Safety Executive, it is the voice of the industry and a major publisher of safety-related knowledge.
