PASMA to discuss PAS 250 at WWT Safety Health Awareness Day
At the invitation of Working Well Together (WWT) - the HSE campaign promoting health and safety in the construction sector - PASMA is set to deliver a presentation on working at height, and the safe use of low level platforms in particular, at WWT's Safety & Health Awareness Day (SHAD) at Wolverhampton Science Park on 22 September.
The presentation, given by Paul Roddis, will focus on PAS 250, the Publicly Available Specification sponsored by PASMA and destined to become a full British Standard in 2016. It specifies minimum safety and performance criteria for low level work platforms, commonly referred to as pulpits and podiums.
Without specific design criteria it was clear that some products were inherently unsafe and open to misuse and abuse.
Comments Paul Roddis: "Working safely is crucial, irrespective of the height. In addition to explaining PAS 250 and its importance, I also plan to provide practical knowledge and advice that will help keep people safe on a day-to-day basis."
